OUR PRESCHOOL

Our program serves children, 18 months-old through five years old, including pre-Kindergarten. Toddlers in diapers are welcome.

Beth Shir Shalom Early Childhood Center is located safely and securely within the Temple 's facilities on a quiet, residential street. Additionally, we have electronically monitored security. Our preschool has bright indoor classrooms and features a large outside play area, our newly designed Gan Shalom that has a well - equipped play yard, climbing structure and sand box - all specially designed for hands-on, creative play.

Beth Shir Shalom Preschool acknowledges and respects the diversity of our children, while emphasizing Jewish values of family, community, caring, joy, tradition and rituals. Through music, holiday celebrations and learning simple blessings, our children gain pride in the richness of their Jewish heritage, culture and history. Every Friday our Rabbi, Neil Comess-Daniels and Cantor Diane Rose, welcome Shabbat in our beautiful sanctuary at our Tot Shabbat.  All are welcome.

Beth Shir Shalom Early Childhood Center is open to all children, regardless of race, color, religion, national or ethnic origin. Temple membership is encourage, but not required.

Our Pre-Kindergarten program is enriched with reading, math-readiness and writing skills.

PHILOSOPHY

Beth Shir Shalom ECCAt the Early Childhood Center , we believe that child-initiated, child-directed, teacher-supported play is the most important component of our program. Play allows the child to grow physically, emotionally and socially. It is how children learn to negotiate, share, cooperate and respect the rights of others.

Our program encourages positive social behaviors such as cooperation, helpfulness, taking turns and problem solving through verbal communication. Children are given many opportunities for experimentation and involvement including cooking, creative arts, woodworking, storytelling and music.

Our Gesher class (Transitional Kindergarten) marks an important transition from pre-school to the primary grades. In our developmentally appropriate Gesher class the focus is on the development of the child as a whole. It is a time for our students to expand their love of learning. Their general knowledge, their ability to get along with others, and their interest in reaching out to the world.

Please call to sign up for a tour.  We would be happy to show you around and have you meet our wonderful teachers.
