Will you help us honor our history?

Beth Shir Shalom is partnering with Kehillat Israel to launch a welcome circle for Afghan refugees and we need your help. The Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society (HIAS) was founded in 1881 to assist Jews fleeing pogroms in Russia and Eastern Europe. Today, they honor that history by helping refugees worldwide escape persecution and resettle in safety.

Together, our communities will launch a Welcome Circle for Afghan Refugees arriving in Los Angeles in the coming months. With your donations, we will secure housing, necessities like clothing and furniture, and help our refugee families access government benefits such as schooling, food, and healthcare. As a community, we want to make sure we can truly provide them with everything they will need to thrive in their new home, as was done for so many of our families in the 19th & 20th centuries. Anything you can do to honor our history by helping these refugees will have a tremendous impact.

Donate through the temple and all proceeds will go to support this great cause.
