Some of the most powerful Jewish experiences happen far beyond the walls of our synagogue. At Camp Newman, our kids spend their summers surrounded by friends, incredible role models, joyful Judaism, and the freedom to discover who they are.

Camp Newman is more than a place we recommend. It is part of how we build Jewish community at Beth Shir Shalom.

  • Not sure whether your child is ready? Wondering which session makes sense? Talk to Rabbi Kress or another BSS family who knows Newman. We want to help you find the right fit.

  • Attend our Newman Parlor Meeting to meet a Camp Newman Director and BSS Newman folks. Their team also offers conversations with prospective families.

  • Newman has options for campers at different ages and stages, from a short Taste of Camp for younger first-timers to two-week and four-week sessions and teen leadership experiences. Rabbi Alex will be at camp during Gimmel (early July to mid-July).

  • Once you've found the right session, reserve your child's place directly through Camp Newman. Registration for Summer 2027 opens October 25 for returning families and November 1 for mebers of URJ Congregations.

  • Then comes the fun part: packing, meeting other BSS campers, getting excited, and counting down the days until summer. Newman provides enrolled families with forms, packing information, orientation resources and other preparation materials.
